About the Role
The Lead Medical Writer position at Avalere Health is a unique opportunity to leverage your writing skills and scientific knowledge to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients worldwide. As a key member of the Medical Communications team, you will be responsible for developing high-quality content for various medical communications initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and exceptional quality. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include researching, writing, and editing content for multiple projects, collaborating with clients to understand their needs, and providing strategic guidance to junior writers.What You Will Do
- Act as the lead writer and primary client contact for assigned accounts, ensuring seamless communication and effective project management
- Develop engaging content, including scientific articles, presentations, and educational materials, that meets the needs of clients and patients alike
- Collaborate with the editorial team to review, edit, and finalize content for publication, maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy
- Provide guidance, support, and feedback to junior writers, helping them grow professionally and deliver exceptional results
- Participate in strategic client interactions, including advisory boards, speaker-training meetings, and business development initiatives, representing Avalere Health and its values
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the healthcare industry, applying this knowledge to inform and improve medical communications strategies
- Contribute to the development of new medical communications projects and publications, identifying opportunities to support client needs and drive business growth
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining the integrity and credibility of all content produced
What We Are Looking For
- A degree in a scientific or related field, such as biology, medicine, or pharmacology
- Proven experience as a medical writer, with a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to craft compelling, accurate content for diverse audiences
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex scientific information into clear, concise language
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team, building strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
- Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, including current trends, challenges, and opportunities
- Familiarity with medical communications strategies, regulations, and standards, including those related to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a remote or flexible work environment, with the ability to self-motivate and manage your time effectively
- Familiarity with content management systems, project management tools, and other software relevant to medical writing and communications
- Certification in medical writing, such as the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) or the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS)
- Knowledge of additional languages, which could be beneficial for working with global clients and audiences
