This role involves leading the research, design, training, and validation of advanced neural architectures to extract and model lane and route networks, alongside key semantic features. The successful candidate will drive major feature development, from inception to deployment, ensuring high-performance integration with the broader autonomy system. As part of the Autonomy Mapping & Localization group, the Lead ML Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex autonomy goals into clear software and system requirements. The role requires staying at the research frontier, evaluating, adapting, and innovating cutting-edge techniques in online vectorized HD map construction, end-to-end mapping models, and vision/fusion foundation models.
What You Will Do
- Architect, design, and implement a production-grade lane and route network mapping stack.
- Lead the research, design, training, and validation of advanced neural architectures for object detection, classification, segmentation, tracking, depth estimation, and 3D reconstruction.
- Drive major feature development from inception to deployment, including high-level architecture design and rigorous code reviews.
- Own the end-to-end data strategy for the mapping domain, defining data curation, auto-labeling, synthetic data, and active learning pipelines.
- Develop robust metrics and evaluation frameworks for lane and route network accuracy, temporal consistency, and scaling across diverse Operational Design Domains (ODDs).
- Collaborate with ML and Autonomy engineers to ensure the seamless deployment and validation of mapping features to the vehicle fleet.
- Work independently with cross-functional teams to achieve complex autonomy goals.
- Stay updated with the latest research and innovations in mapping and localization technologies.
- Contribute to the development of vectorized mapping networks and BEV-based scene understanding models.
What We Are Looking For
