Job Description

About the Role

The Lead On Site Services Specialist plays a critical role in GE Vernova's mission to accelerate the transition to more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. As part of the Global Service Team of Power Transmission, this specialist will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and quality during the installation and maintenance of AIS and GIS systems. This role contributes directly to delivering exceptional service and quality products to clients, aligning with the company's urgent and optimistic mission to electrify and decarbonize.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this position involve managing the installation, commissioning, and testing of AIS and GIS systems, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications and manufacturer's operational procedures. The Lead On Site Services Specialist acts as the primary point of contact for customers regarding high-voltage switching coordination and power control, contributing to site-specific maintenance planning. This role also involves leading daily safety moments and communicating the test plan to all stakeholders, fostering a zero-harm environment.

As a key member of the service team, the Lead On Site Services Specialist will collaborate closely with the Service Manager to ensure all testing, measuring, and electrical safety equipment is calibrated, certified, and fit for purpose. This role reports to the Service Manager and works in conjunction with the Project Manager to manage site progress effectively.

What You Will Do

  • Perform installation and maintenance service work on Power Transformers and/or AIS circuit breakers & disconnectors and/or GIS switchgear in the high and medium voltage range.
  • Install the latest high-voltage technology and maintain proven technology.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of both AIS & GIS systems.
  • Ensure all activities align strictly with project specifications and manufacturer's operational procedures and instructions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding HV switching coordination and power control.
  • Contribute to site-specific maintenance planning.
  • Lead daily 'Safety Moments' and communicate the test plan to all stakeholders every morning.
  • Manage site progress through rigorous time management.
  • Provide daily reports to stakeholders and regular progress updates to the Line Manager and Project Manager.
  • Proactively identify and highlight potential additional costs or deviations to prevent overspend and support claims for project changes.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager to ensure all equipment is calibrated and fit for purpose.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in grid networks, with a proven track record as an Installation & Commissioning Engineer in the high and medium voltage range.
  • Deep understanding of Power Transformers and/or AIS circuit breakers & disconnectors and/or GIS switchgear in the high and medium voltage range.
  • Strong command of MS Office (Word, Excel); familiarity with MS Project is a plus.
  • Proficiency with industry testing tools (e.g., Omicron, Megger, etc.).
  • Professional fluency in Kazakh and/or Russian; a good command of English (written and oral) is essential.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, often for extended periods, including to remote and international locations, often on short notice.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have practical driving experience.

  • Experience as a Site Commissioning Manager.
