About the Role

The Lead Planning Engineer position at ControlPoint Technologies is a critical role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and client-facing experience. As a key member of the Distribution System Planning & Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing project support and leading client-facing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical distribution planning, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The role entails working on a variety of projects, including area planning studies, electric utility asset management, and analytical studies for distribution systems. You will be required to work within engineering design standards and quality programs specific to client needs and requirements. The ability to meet critical deadlines and provide client confidence is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement project plans to meet critical success factors
  • Conduct area planning studies, electric utility asset management, and analytical studies for distribution systems
  • Perform system modeling for stability studies and power flow analysis
  • Conduct thermal capability analysis and distributed generation interconnection studies
  • Perform system impact studies and arc flash analysis
  • Develop and review power system studies, protection, and coordination settings
  • Collaborate with utility groups, departments, and operations to deliver projects
  • Estimate project scope and develop project plans to meet critical success factors
  • Write proposals and establish budgets and schedules with customers in a collaborative environment

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in electrical distribution planning for utilities
  • Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is preferred
  • Experience in Electric Power Distribution Design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and high level of business and engineering ethics
  • Ability to work independently and with utility groups, departments, and operations
  • Experience with ASPEN, CYME, PSS/E, and Synergi Planning

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ISO, FERC, NERC, and NPCC standards and criteria
  • Knowledge of proposal writing and budgeting
  • Experience with client-facing projects and exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines
