About the Role

The Lead Platform Engineer role at Fyxer is a critical position that requires a high level of technical expertise and experience in managing infrastructure and services. As a key member of the platform team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of Fyxer's AI-powered email and meeting assistant platform. This involves planning and executing infrastructure migrations, diagnosing and fixing production incidents, and building and maintaining scripts, workflows, and cloud architecture. The platform team at Fyxer is a small, high-ownership group that is responsible for the infrastructure and services that keep the platform running smoothly. The team is led by the Founding Engineer, Josh Harrison, and is based in Chancery Lane, London. The company operates a flexible working policy, with team members working from the office Monday to Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

What You Will Do

  • Plan and execute infrastructure migrations to ensure zero downtime and minimal disruption to the platform
  • Diagnose and fix production incidents quickly and effectively, using quantitative and qualitative data to identify the root cause of the issue
  • Build and maintain scripts, workflows, and cloud architecture to support the platform's growth and scalability
  • Work closely with product engineers to review new features before they ship, ensuring they meet the reliability bar before they reach production
  • Own the reliability standard across the product area, ensuring that new features and onboardings do not break what is already working
  • Use deep technical knowledge and sound judgment to keep the platform on solid ground, even in high-pressure situations
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement database solutions that meet the platform's growing needs
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the platform's architecture and technical stack
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage of the platform
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in platform engineering and cloud computing

What We Are Looking For

  • Solid TypeScript expertise, with the ability to diagnose and fix production incidents quickly and effectively
  • Expert-level experience with cloud platforms, such as Google Cloud or equivalent, with a deep understanding of deployment, scripts, GitHub workflows, and operational tasks
  • Deep database knowledge, including database design and implementation, with the ability to justify design decisions and solve complex problems
  • Production ownership experience, with a proven track record of taking ownership of platform reliability and uptime
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with the team and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar technologies is highly desirable
  • A strong understanding of cloud security and compliance is essential

Nice to Have

  • Experience with containerization using Docker or similar technologies
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and other container orchestration tools
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus and Grafana
