About the Role
The Lead Power Systems Engineer role is a critical part of GE Vernova's Consulting Services team, focusing on grid integration and stability. As a key contributor to the company's business initiatives, you will be responsible for analyzing power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, and large industrial drives. Your expertise will help support customers with power systems engineering, including modeling, analysis, equipment design, and failure mode analysis.As a member of the Grid Integration and Stability practice area, you will be working closely with a team of experienced professionals who have comprehensive global experience in power system studies. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing technical analysis, creating simulation models, and evaluating grid code compliance standards. You will also be expected to communicate results effectively to both internal and external customers through detailed written reports and presentations.
What You Will Do
- Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, and large industrial drives
- Support customers with power systems engineering expertise, including modeling, analysis, equipment design, and failure mode analysis
- Create, modify, and parametrize simulation models representing GE Vernova inverter-based resource products
- Evaluate grid code compliance standards and their impact on renewable energy projects in bulk power systems
- Support the development of transmission and distribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource products
- Perform power system transient studies and detailed equipment modeling using appropriate software tools
- Communicate results to internal and external customers through detailed written reports and presentations
- Enhance industry knowledge and present technical content in regional forums and conferences
- Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation are important
What We Are Looking For
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineering
- Minimum three years of industry experience performing transient analysis using simulation tools like PSCAD/EMTDC and EMTP
- Minimum three years of industry experience with the use and application of common programming languages
- Strong background in power system analysis
- Solid understanding of inverter-based resources design and application considerations
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Willingness to travel for supporting project work and attending industry standard working group meetings
Nice to Have
- Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or a related field of study
- Experience with power system simulation and analysis software tools like PSLF, PSS/E, PowerFactory, and ETAP
- Knowledge of voltage control and reactive planning issues
