About the Role

The Lead Social Media Manager role at Gitlab is a key position that requires a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage the company's social media presence. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive social media content calendars, developing technical content that resonates with software developers, and collaborating with the Developer Advocacy team to translate complex technical concepts into engaging social media formats. As a Lead Social Media Manager at Gitlab, you will be working closely with the technical teams to highlight technical innovations and features, and will be responsible for managing daily social media activities across multiple platforms. You will also be responsible for tracking and analyzing content performance, identifying high-performing content types, and optimizing future posts.

What You Will Do

  • Create, maintain, and execute comprehensive social media content calendars across all platforms
  • Coordinate content scheduling and publishing using Sprout Social
  • Ensure consistent posting cadence and optimal timing for our audiences
  • Plan content themes around developer events, product releases, and industry trends
  • Manage content approval workflows and deadlines
  • Develop technical content that resonates with software developers, engineers, and technical decision-makers
  • Create tutorials, code snippets, technical tips, and developer-focused educational content
  • Work with the Developer Advocacy team to translate complex technical concepts into engaging social media formats
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to highlight technical innovations and features
  • Manage daily social media activities across LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Monitor developer communities and engage in relevant conversations
  • Optimize posting times and content formats based on developer audience behavior

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in social media management, preferably in the tech industry
  • Strong understanding of the developer community and technical concepts
  • Experience with content creation, including writing, editing, and publishing
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with social media management tools such as Sprout Social
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner

  • Experience with AI-powered productivity tools
