About the Role

The Lead Technical Web Analyst role is a critical component of Cars.com's Enterprise Analytics Team, responsible for shaping the future of automotive commerce through data-driven insights. As a key member of this team, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to translate bold data goals into reliable, scalable analytics solutions. Your expertise in web analytics, digital measurement, and data infrastructure will enable our product and business teams to make smarter, faster, and more confident decisions.

The Analytics Team is on a mission to accelerate innovation by building and evolving websites analytics infrastructure, digital measurement capabilities, and data strategies. Our Analytics function is the intelligence layer that powers our entire organization, and we're looking for a talented Lead Technical Web Analyst to help us drive this vision forward.

What You Will Do

  • Design and oversee complex analytics implementations from the ground up, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Troubleshoot intricate tracking issues and optimize data collection strategies
  • Define best practices for fast-growing teams and ensure seamless adoption of new tools and technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to translate data goals into actionable insights
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for analytics implementations and data strategies
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and analytics engineering best practices, applying this knowledge to inform strategic decisions
  • Balance immediate business needs with long-term data integrity, ensuring that our analytics solutions are scalable and reliable
  • Own larger analytics initiatives and contribute significantly to our overall data and analytics strategy
  • Guide colleagues and provide technical expertise to ensure the successful implementation of analytics solutions

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in web analytics, digital measurement, and data infrastructure
  • Expertise in Google Analytics, GA4, GTM, and Excel
  • Strong grasp of industry trends and analytics engineering best practices
  • Ability to design and oversee complex analytics implementations from the ground up
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimize data collection strategies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to guide colleagues and provide technical expertise
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, or computer science

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python or JavaScript
