About the Role
The Learning & Development Specialist role is a vital part of HealthCorps' mission to improve lives by addressing health challenges in communities. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering onboarding programs, building ongoing professional development, and developing practical resources for mentors. You will work closely with the curriculum, program, and evaluation teams to ensure that the training programs are effective and aligned with the organization's goals.The role entails working with college-age mentors who are deployed into schools to connect with students and inspire them to become change agents. You will coach mentors to be confident, skilled facilitators of the curriculum and provide them with the necessary tools and resources to deliver the program with ease and mastery. The team context is collaborative, with a strong focus on teamwork and entrepreneurial mindset.
You will report to the Manager of Mentor Experience and partner closely with the curriculum, program, and evaluation teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in learning and development, with experience in designing and delivering training programs for adult learners.
What You Will Do
- Design and deliver onboarding programs that prepare mentors for their roles
- Build ongoing professional development programs that support mentors' ability to deliver the program with growing ease and mastery
- Develop practical, mentor-ready resources such as videos, how-to guides, templates, and quick-reference sheets
- Partner with the curriculum team to review new lesson plans and activities before rollout
- Provide feedback that helps the curriculum team design for real-world implementation
- Translate curriculum into mentor-ready training
- Partner with Regional Program Managers to provide local support and accountability
- Work with the data team to understand what's working and what areas need improvement
- Coach mentors to be confident, skilled facilitators of the curriculum
- Develop and implement evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of the training programs
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in learning and development, with a focus on adult learners
- Strong background in designing and delivering training programs
- Experience working with remote teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience with curriculum design and program evaluation
- Knowledge of health education and mentorship programs
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
