## About the Role As a Learning & Development Specialist at HealthCorps, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering mentor training and development experiences. Your work will be crucial in ensuring that mentors are confident and skilled facilitators of the curriculum, capable of engaging students across various ages and settings. You will be part of a dynamic team that values mission-obsession, entrepreneurship, and teamwork, working closely with the curriculum, program, and evaluation teams to drive the success of HealthCorps' programs.
HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives by addressing health challenges in communities through innovative and engaging experiences for teens in education, leadership, and service learning. The organization's model is grounded in near-peer mentorship, where college-age mentors are deployed into schools to connect with students and inspire them to become change agents within their families, schools, and neighborhoods.
The Learning & Development Specialist role reports to the Manager of Mentor Experience and involves collaborating with various departments to ensure that mentor training and development are best-in-class. This is an opportunity to not only shape the experience of HealthCorps' mentors but also influence the future of healthcare professionals, as many mentors are pre-health students heading into careers in medicine, public health, and healthcare.
## What You Will Do - Design and deliver onboarding programs that prepare mentors for a range of settings, including classroom and club-based environments.
- Develop ongoing professional development initiatives to support mentors in delivering the program with ease and mastery.
- Create practical, mentor-ready resources such as videos, how-to guides, templates, and quick-reference sheets tailored to mentors' workflows.
- Partner with the curriculum team to review new lesson plans and activities before rollout, ensuring they are clear, feasible, and well-suited for the time and setting.
- Translate curriculum into mentor-ready training materials, focusing on the practical aspects of running sessions.
- Collaborate with Regional Program Managers to provide training tools and support for local mentor supervision.
- Work with the data team to analyze what's working and identify areas for improvement in mentor training and development.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and experience in designing and delivering training programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Proficiency in digital tools and platforms for creating and delivering training content.
- Experience working in a remote or hybrid environment, with a strong ability to self-manage and work independently.

- Ability to travel occasionally for training and team meetings.
