The Legal Tech Specialist - AI Trainer role at mercor is a unique opportunity for professionals to combine their legal expertise with cutting-edge technology. The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve collaborating with other legal-operations and legal-tech experts to design realistic digital workspaces, navigating multiple apps and files, and challenging frontier AI agents. You will also work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for legal-tech agent benchmarks.

What You Will Do

  • Design multi-step tasks based on real workflows to challenge AI agents
  • Build a realistic digital workspace centered on Drive folders, including process maps, intake forms, and matter-management reports
  • Collaborate with other legal-operations and legal-tech experts to design the environment and review scenarios for realism and rigor
  • Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria
  • Contribute to frontier AI research and benchmarking, informing the training and evaluation of the next generation of AI systems
  • Navigate multiple apps, files, and stakeholders to simulate real-world legal scenarios
  • Design and implement e-discovery plans, vendor-evaluation decks, and email threads
  • Develop and maintain CLM rollouts and contract lifecycle management processes
  • Utilize tools such as Relativity, Icertis, HotDocs/Contract Express, and Clio/MyCase to manage legal operations

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years of full-time experience in legal operations or legal technology at an AmLaw 100 firm, Fortune 500 in-house legal department, or major legal-tech vendor
  • Background in legal operations, process improvement, and legal-spend management
  • Experience with e-discovery and review workflows
  • Knowledge of contract lifecycle management and matter management
  • Familiarity with legal intake, knowledge management, and enterprise-wide legal program design
  • Strong analytical thinking and writing skills
  • Experience with Relativity, Icertis, HotDocs/Contract Express, and Clio/MyCase
  • CLOC/ACC Legal Ops involvement (preferred)
