About the Role

The Life Actuary Senior role at USAA is a critical position that requires advanced actuarial analyses and strategic insight into reinsurance programs. As a senior actuary, you will lead complex projects, provide technical expertise, and drive business growth through optimized reinsurance structures. What You Will Do

  • Perform complex actuarial analyses using modeling software to inform reinsurance program development
  • Lead project teams on complex assignments, from concept to implementation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including actuarial, underwriting, and finance teams
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior actuaries and other team members
  • Stay current with industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in reinsurance
  • Collaborate with external partners, including reinsurers, brokers, and consultants
  • Develop and present reports and findings to senior leadership and other stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with reinsurance programs
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide subject matter expertise in one or more key areas, such as product pricing, reserving, or economic capital
  • Lead the development of exhibits and reports to explain proposals and findings
  • Present recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 6 years of actuarial experience and attainment of Fellow within the Society of Actuaries
  • 12 years of relevant actuarial experience and attainment of Associate within the Society of Actuaries
  • Experience leading project teams on complex assignments
  • Demonstrated experience preparing effective documentation, facilitating training and development, and presenting to various levels of management
  • Strong knowledge of actuarial modeling software and reinsurance structures
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, and presentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and data analytics tools
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in reinsurance, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
  • Certification in a related field, such as data science or business analytics
