Job Description

About the Role

The Litigation Manager will play a critical role in overseeing claims in active litigation and ensuring the effective management of defense counsel. This role will involve supervising a team of litigation adjusters, managing legal expenses, and driving claim resolution strategies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in claims handling and litigation management, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

The Litigation Manager will work closely with the claims team to ensure that all files are handled efficiently and effectively. This will involve reviewing and processing subpoenas, reviewing incoming lawsuits, and assigning new lawsuits to the relevant teams. The role will also involve managing defense counsel, ensuring that all legal deadlines are met, and controlling legal expenses.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience handling attorney-represented BI and PD claims, with 5-7 years of litigation management experience. They will be licensed in Texas and have the ability to obtain licenses in other states as needed. They will also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Supervise a team of 5 litigation adjusters, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Manage defense counsel, ensuring that all legal deadlines are met and expenses are controlled
  • Review and process subpoenas, reviewing incoming lawsuits and assigning new lawsuits to the relevant teams
  • Keep a diary on each file assigned to a litigation adjuster, monitoring diary management and providing authority as needed
  • Review incoming lawsuits and assign new lawsuits to the relevant teams
  • Assist with monitoring files for service and/or request for defense, including monitoring for outcome of motion for default judgment
  • Assist other units as needed, providing support and guidance to ensure that all claims are handled efficiently and effectively
  • Manage legal expenses, ensuring that all expenses are controlled and within budget
  • Prepare detailed reports regarding trial activity, extra-contractual exposure, and other litigation-related matters as deemed necessary
  • Travel within the state on an occasional basis as business needs require

What We Are Looking For
