About the Role
The Local Advertising Account Executive role at Axios is a foundational position responsible for building and scaling the company's local advertising business across key markets. This role is not a traditional account executive position but rather a highly entrepreneurial seller focused on developing deep relationships with local business leaders and converting these relationships into long-term advertising partnerships. The successful candidate will serve as the face of Axios in their city or region, attending events, building community presence, and collaborating with editorial teams.As a Local Advertising Account Executive, you will be responsible for owning a book of business from day one, leveraging your existing network and local market presence to prospect, pitch, and close new local advertisers. This role requires a high level of independence, strong sales and marketing skills, and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

What You Will Do
- Build and own a book of business from day one, leveraging existing relationships with local decision-makers
- Prospect, pitch, and close new local advertisers, including restaurants, healthcare systems, law firms, real estate, financial services, dealerships, and more
- Develop repeatable revenue streams through renewals and long-term partnerships
- Serve as the Axios brand ambassador in-market, attending events, building community presence, and collaborating with editorial teams
- Create and manage a high-volume pipeline of deals, with typical deal sizes ranging from $5K to 5K
- Operate with a founder mindset, owning outcomes, testing approaches, and building momentum in-market
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local business leaders and advertising partners
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in digital marketing and advertising
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in sales, marketing, or a related field, with a focus on digital advertising and local market development
- Strong understanding of the local advertising market and existing relationships with local business leaders
- Proven track record of success in sales and business development, with a strong ability to prospect, pitch, and close deals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
- Strong digital skills, including experience with CRM software, sales analytics tools, and marketing automation platforms
