About the Role

The Loss Mitigation, Underwriting Supervisor role at Carrington offers a unique opportunity to lead a team of underwriters and contribute to the company's mission of providing exceptional customer care. As a supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the loss mitigation team, ensuring that all underwriting guidelines are followed, and providing guidance and support to your team members. Your expertise in underwriting methodology and compliance will be essential in driving the team's success.

The loss mitigation team plays a critical role in assisting customers with available options, and as a supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all team members are equipped to provide the highest level of service. You will work closely with management to support operations within the Loss Mitigation Department, including monthly and quarterly audits, reporting, and change management.

What You Will Do

  • Supervise a team of Loss Mitigation Underwriters to achieve maximum performance
  • Develop and implement underwriting methodology and guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Prepare reports and track results and trends within the Loss Mitigation Underwriting Department
  • Oversee daily team operations and provide guidance and direction
  • Provide consistent communication to the team regarding daily work goals and expectations
  • Monitor employees' underwriting guidelines and job performance
  • Ensure that all procedures and training materials are defined and validated annually
  • Collaborate with management to support operations within the Loss Mitigation Department
  • Participate in change management and quality assurance/quality control initiatives

What We Are Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Three to five years of loss mitigation underwriting experience required
  • Two or more years of supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HAMP, FHA, VA, and USDA underwriting guidelines required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite at an intermediate level preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with mortgage servicing software and systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry trends
  • Certification in underwriting or a related field
  • Experience with team management and performance evaluation
