Job Description

About the Role

EquiMatch GmbH is a Berlin-based company that has developed an AI-assisted deal target generation platform. This platform serves private equity firms by turning high-level investment criteria into curated longlists of acquisition targets. The M&A Research Analyst will play a crucial role in this process, working directly with PE deal teams across Europe to turn mandates into pipeline.

The role entails a deep understanding of investment theses, the ability to translate these into structured search scopes, and the capability to build longlists by querying the company's backend and combining results from multiple data sources. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of finance and technology, leveraging AI to reshape a traditionally slow-moving corner of finance.

As part of the team, the M&A Research Analyst will have real ownership over their workflow, contributing to the development of the company's toolchain and data infrastructure. This is an exciting time to join EquiMatch GmbH, as the company is scaling its team and looking for talented professionals to help drive its growth.

What You Will Do

  • Translate buy-side mandates, CIMs, and acquirer profiles into structured search scopes, considering value chain positioning, keywords, inclusion, and exclusion criteria.
  • Build longlists by querying the company's backend, running pipelines, and combining results from multiple data sources, including the internal database, third-party providers, and web-scraped data.
  • Run QA on pipelines before they go to clients, ensuring high data quality, comprehensive leadership coverage, accurate country mapping, and correct clause logic.
  • Collaborate with the deal teams to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the company's AI-assisted deal target generation platform.
  • Work closely with the data infrastructure team to ensure seamless data flow and integrity.
  • Stay updated on market trends and competitor activity to continuously improve the quality of longlists.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of workflows and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience with AI-powered tools or platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with web scraping technologies and data enrichment processes.
