About the Role
The M&A, Ventures and Accounting Policy Manager will play a critical role in Coinbase's Accounting team, serving as the primary accounting resource for M&A and investment transactions. This role will be responsible for leading financial due diligence, developing accounting policies, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with experience in M&A transactions and technical accounting.The Accounting team at Coinbase is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the company's financial statements, as well as developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures. As a key member of this team, the M&A, Ventures and Accounting Policy Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Corporate Development, and Tax.
What You Will Do
- Lead financial due diligence on target companies, including quality of earnings analysis and identification of accounting exposures and deal-relevant risks
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures for M&A and investment transactions
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Prepare technical accounting memos and financial statement disclosures for M&A and investment transactions
- Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Corporate Development, and Tax
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and developments in accounting and regulatory requirements
- Participate in the development of the company's accounting strategy and roadmap
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Provide accounting expertise and support for new product launches and business initiatives
What We Are Looking For
- 9+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience
- CPA certification required
- Demonstrated breadth and depth of US GAAP knowledge, including M&A accounting and investment accounting
- Proven experience leading financial due diligence and developing accounting policies and procedures
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with financial planning and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting
Nice to Have
- Experience with accounting software and systems, including ERP and financial planning systems
- Knowledge of emerging trends and developments in accounting and regulatory requirements
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency and blockchain technology
