About the Role
As a Mainframe Application DBA support specialist at Kyndryl, you will play a critical role in managing and administering the company's mainframe database systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the integrity, availability, and performance of these systems, which are crucial to the company's operations. You will work closely with various teams to coordinate systematic database project plans that align with the company's organizational goals.The Database Administration team at Kyndryl is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for the company's mainframe database systems. As a member of this team, you will be expected to provide high-quality support and ensure that all database-related issues are resolved promptly and efficiently. You will also be involved in the development and implementation of new database systems and applications, as well as the maintenance and upgrade of existing ones.

What You Will Do
- Provide technical support and maintenance for mainframe database systems, including DB2 and other related tools and software
- Install, configure, and maintain DBMS software, including related tools and parameters
- Create and implement backup and recovery solutions, monitoring and testing to ensure compliance with requirements
- Monitor database performance and recommend improvements for operational efficiency
- Ensure integrity, availability, and performance of DB2 zOS systems by providing technical support and maintenance
- Perform database enhancement and modification as per requirements
- Assist in resource planning, space management, and data maintenance activities for database systems
- Identify and recommend database techniques to support business needs
- Assume personal responsibility for resolving problems in the most effective way possible within SLA, reaching root cause and preventing problems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate systematic database project plans that align with organizational goals
- Provide support for application development, including database management, logical database design, utilities for access control, database reorganization, data integrity, and data recovery
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in Mainframe application DBA support and Mainframe DB2 DBA
- Strong technical skills in COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, VSAM, DCCS, SQL, and MQ
- Experience with database administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of DBMS software
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Customer-focused approach to work
- Growth mindset and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
- Experience with remote work and digital collaboration tools
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based database systems and migration from on-premises to cloud
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and Agile methodologies
- Certification in DB2 or other related technologies
