About the Role

The Mainframe Platform & Infrastructure Engineer will play a critical role in managing, supporting, and optimizing corporate mainframe environments, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and operational stability. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with global and multidisciplinary teams to monitor environments, resolve incidents, implement improvements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with corporate standards and compliance.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mainframe engineering, with solid experience in z/OS, z/VM, and Linux on Z. You will be responsible for maintaining reliable system operations, secure connectivity, and efficient automated processes that support the company's core functions.

What You Will Do

  • Guarantee the availability, performance, and stability of mainframe environments through proactive monitoring
  • Administer and optimize z/OS, z/VM, and Linux on Z systems in corporate environments
  • Monitor and maintain network connectivity and latency, including support for VTAM and mainframe network protocols
  • Support and enhance automation processes, including script creation and system workflow development
  • Plan, schedule, and execute batch processing operations for critical business workloads
  • Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve system, network, and automation-related issues
  • Manage patch cycles, system updates, and compliance activities, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Perform performance and capacity analysis (e.g., SMF/RMF) and recommend optimizations
  • Utilize tools like TSO/ISPF, JCL, JES2/3, SDSF, and monitoring solutions (e.g., OMEGAMON, BMC, CA OPS/MVS)
  • Support mainframe console operations and system management activities
  • Ensure security and compliance standards, including basic RACF knowledge and audit preparation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement changes, updates, and best practices (ITIL)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures

What We Are Looking For

  • 3 to 5 years (or more) of experience in corporate mainframe environments (systems, platform, network, or automation)
  • Solid practical experience with z/OS, z/VM, and/or Linux on Z
  • Knowledge of mainframe network protocols (e.g., VTAM) and connectivity concepts
  • Experience with automation tools, script creation (REXX, JCL, Shell), and batch processing
  • Proficiency in mainframe monitoring, incident management, and system operations
  • Experience with mainframe management tools for troubleshooting and performance analysis
  • Familiarity with patch management, compliance processes, and security principles
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, change, and problem management)
  • Intermediate English for documentation and global collaboration

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Certifications like IBM z/OS, z/VM, or Linux on Z
  • Experience with agile methodologies and version control systems
