About the Role

The Major Case Unit Adjuster role at Reserv is a critical position that requires a skilled claims professional to investigate and resolve complex and catastrophic claims. As a key member of the Major Case Unit team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of claim handling, including reserving, communication, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, and negotiation. Your expertise will be essential in driving results and setting a new standard for claims handling in the industry.

The Major Case Unit Adjuster will work closely with the product and engineering teams to provide feedback and identify technology and process improvements. This collaborative approach will enable Reserv to continuously enhance its claims handling capabilities and stay ahead of the competition.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile cases, attend trials, settlement conferences, mediations, and arbitrations, and collaborate with defense counsel, claims counsel, and claims leadership to drive strategic planning. Your strong understanding of transportation coverages, contractual risk transfer, and additional insured forms will be essential in navigating complex claim scenarios.

What You Will Do

  • Manage legal aspects of complex, high-value cases, including evaluation of legal process and expenses
  • Analyze and review commercial auto and transportation claims to identify areas of dispute
  • Investigate and gather all necessary information and documentation related to the claim
  • Evaluate liability and damages related to the claim, and negotiate and settle claims with opposing parties
  • Manage litigation cases related to claims disputes, attending mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings as necessary
  • Communicate regularly with clients, claims professionals, attorneys, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with defense counsel, claims counsel, and claims leadership for strategic planning
  • Review legal documents and ensure compliance with litigation management guidelines
  • Analyze and interpret policy language and reach appropriate coverage decisions
  • Draft complex coverage correspondence and proactively manage primarily litigated claim files from inception to closure

What We Are Looking For

  • Active insurance adjuster's license by way of a designated home state
  • Willingness to obtain all licenses within 60 days, including completing state-required testing
  • 12+ years of claim handling experience, with 7+ years handling a pending of >60% in litigation
  • Strong understanding of transportation coverages, contractual risk transfer, and additional insured forms
  • Sense of urgency and understanding of how to manage time-sensitive demands and documents
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills with the ability to drive negotiations to desired outcomes
  • Knowledge of multiple state statutes, including good faith claim handling practices, regulations, and guidelines
  • Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment
