About the Role
The Managed Payroll Supervisor at Rippling is a pivotal position that will lead the company's US Managed Payroll offering, shaping the service from its earliest stages. This role involves defining operational processes, scaling the program, and ensuring a best-in-class managed payroll experience for clients. The supervisor will be both a hands-on leader and a builder, responsible for running payroll, owning client relationships, and guiding the team. As the team leader, the supervisor will hire, onboard, and develop a team of Managed Payroll Specialists, focusing on building capacity and expertise as the customer portfolio grows. This includes setting clear performance expectations, providing regular coaching and feedback, and fostering a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement. In terms of team context, the Managed Payroll Supervisor will work closely with the broader product, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure seamless integration and feedback loops. The supervisor will be the connective link between day-to-day operations and strategic planning, making this role critical to the success of Rippling's US Managed Payroll offering.What You Will Do
- Hire, onboard, and develop a team of Managed Payroll Specialists
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular coaching and feedback
- Serve as the first point of escalation for the team, addressing complex accounts and client situations
- Design and document the US Managed Payroll operating model, including SOPs and playbooks
- Identify tooling and automation opportunities and collaborate with Product and Engineering to prioritize and implement them
- Build the feedback loop between operations and product, surfacing patterns, flagging risks, and advocating for improvements
- Define and track key metrics, such as SLAs, accuracy rates, client satisfaction, and team capacity
- Maintain hands-on involvement in payroll execution, particularly for complex or high-risk accounts
- Own a portfolio of strategic or escalated client relationships, ensuring service delivery meets the highest standards
- Oversee pre-validation, approval coordination, and post-run quality checks across the team's accounts
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
