About the Role
The Manager, Analytics at Magellan Health plays a pivotal role in directing and overseeing the development of critical reports and providing general analysis to support strategic decision-making. This involves working closely with various business operations, finance, quality, compliance, procurement, and clinical functional areas to ensure that strategic objectives are met. The role requires a deep understanding of the business and the ability to communicate complex data insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.The manager will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of accurate and actionable reports, collaborating with other analytics teams, and leading the development and management of internal and external reporting solutions. This position demands a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills, as the manager will be guiding a team of professionals and influencing business decisions through data-driven insights.
Given the nature of the role, it's essential to have a strong background in a quantitative field, such as mathematics or computer science, and experience working in a production environment setting up processes that are maintainable and scalable.
What You Will Do
- Develop and manage all critical reports and analytics solutions to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Collaborate with end-users and business leaders to understand functional requirements for reporting solutions and ensure that these needs are met through timely and accurate delivery of reports.
- Monitor critical metrics and inform leadership of potential risks, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Lead and possibly perform programming and analysis as needed, leveraging expertise in programming languages and data analysis tools.
- Work closely with other analytics teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of reports, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all resources are utilized to their maximum potential to meet regulatory, customer, and internal reporting requirements, adhering to deadlines and following policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to staff as required, contributing to the development of a high-performing team.
- Work with business owners to set priorities of projects and associated tasks, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead the development and management of tactical and strategic plans to satisfy technical business needs, focusing on standardization of data processes to ensure efficient practices.
- Direct the development of business process re-engineering associated with existing, developing, and implementation of systems, driving toward the strategic vision for products and services.
- Perform programming and analysis as needed, staying up-to-date with the latest tools and methodologies.
What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, or a related degree.
- At least 5+ years of direct, relevant experience in analytics or a related field; candidates without a Bachelor's degree who have an additional 4 years of direct experience (for a total of 9 years minimum) may be considered.
- Expert-level knowledge of SQL, Qlikview, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
- MS Suite power user with expertise in visualization tools.
- Required experience in a production environment setting up processes to be maintainable and scalable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups of internal clients while maintaining high degrees of accuracy and precision.
- Ability to think creatively; highly driven and self-motivated.
- Ability to drive results and deliver on multiple tasks, prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience building, developing, and managing high-performing teams, with a focus on mentoring and guidance.
- Proven track record of defining and executing key analysis with minimal supervision.
