About the Role

The Manager, Benefits & Compensation role is a key operational position on the Total Rewards team at The Trevor Project. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, integrity, and continuous improvement of the organization's benefits, compensation, and recognition programs. The successful candidate will be expected to translate The Trevor Project's evolving Total Rewards strategy into well-run programs that employees experience as accessible, equitable, and reflective of the organization's mission and values.

As a remote role, the Manager, Benefits & Compensation will operate across a fully-remote workforce comprised of union and non-union staff, and 24/7 shift workers. This requires a high degree of flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Administer the day-to-day operations of The Trevor Project's benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, voluntary benefits, and employee perks
  • Partner with the Director, Total Rewards to evaluate, evolve, and continuously improve benefits offerings to align with The Trevor Project's Total Rewards philosophy and the needs of a diverse, distributed workforce
  • Lead the annual benefits open enrollment process, including planning, employee education, vendor coordination, system configuration, and execution
  • Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and external consultants to ensure responsive service, plan integrity, and strong vendor performance
  • Support benefits initiatives and changes in partnership with the Director, Total Rewards
  • Serve as a key point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing clear, empathetic, and timely communication that helps staff understand and access the full value of their benefits
  • Develop and promote wellness initiatives that align with The Trevor Project's commitment to mental health, total wellbeing, and inclusion
  • Partner with the Director on compensation cycles, market benchmarking, and pay equity analysis
  • Serve as the back-up to the Senior Payroll Manager, providing payroll administration support during peak cycles, absences, or coverage needs

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, compensation, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives
  • Experience with benefits administration software and systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Experience working in a remote environment, with a proven track record of success in a distributed workforce
  • Strong commitment to The Trevor Project's mission and values, with a passion for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion

Nice to Have

  • Experience with payroll administration and payroll software
  • Knowledge of compensation strategies and market benchmarking
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or social impact organization
  • Certification in benefits administration, compensation, or a related field
