Job Description

About the Role

As a Manager of Business Development at Gitlab, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth and success. This role is 100% remote, based in North America, and offers the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about technology and innovation. Your primary responsibility will be to hire, onboard, and mentor outbound Business Development Representatives (BDRs) in your region, ensuring their success and driving pipeline growth.

The business development team at Gitlab is crucial in identifying and creating qualified opportunities, partnering with the sales team to drive results, and collaborating with other departments to improve opportunity management and qualification processes. As a manager, you will be expected to provide coaching and feedback to your team, plan for hiring and onboarding new BDRs, and work closely with the Events and Digital teams on field events and targeted ad and nurture campaigns.

What You Will Do

  • Train and mentor BDRs to identify, contact, and create qualified opportunities
  • Ensure BDRs improve their performance and abilities over time through coaching and feedback
  • Plan for hiring and onboarding new BDRs to expand the team's capacity
  • Collaborate with the Events and Digital teams on field events and targeted ad and nurture campaigns
  • Work closely with the sales team to identify key company accounts to develop
  • Partner with Content, Marketing Program Managers, and Product Marketing to develop effective messaging for outbound communications
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to inform business development strategies
  • Develop and implement processes to improve opportunity management and qualification
  • Foster strong relationships with regional sales leaders and other stakeholders

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in sales, marketing, or customer service for a technical product
  • Proven experience in managing people and driving team performance
  • Experience with CRM software, preferably Salesforce
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
  • Understanding of B2B software, Open Source software, and the developer product space
  • Passion for technology and learning, with a willingness to learn about Gitlab and Git
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive data-informed decisions

Nice to Have

  • Experience with sales operations and/or marketing automation software
  • Knowledge of Adjust or similar marketing analytics tools
  • Experience managing teams working on Commercial accounts
  • Certification in sales or marketing, such as HubSpot or Salesforce certification
  • Experience with digital transformation and DevSecOps platforms
