About the Role
Garner Health is seeking a Manager, Engineering to lead its Platform team, reporting to the VP of Platform Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for revolutionizing the internal development ecosystem by integrating cutting-edge AI capabilities into engineering workflows. This role is crucial in ensuring that Garner Health's developers remain productive and impactful as the company scales.The engineering team at Garner Health is focused on building an AI-first developer platform, and the Manager, Engineering will be responsible for leading and mentoring this team. What You Will Do
- Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team focused on building the AI-first developer platform
- Architect and implement AI-assisted development tools, including agentic code review, approval, and on-call to eliminate bottlenecks in the SDLC lifecycle
- Define and track engineering adoption, velocity, and quality metrics to provide data-driven insights
- Collaborate with product and security engineering leads to identify systemic bottlenecks and deploy automated solutions
- Own the roadmap for Developer Experience, prioritizing initiatives that pay down high-impact technical debt
- Establish standards for local development environments, ensuring every engineer has a seamless and secure experience
- Develop and implement strategies to improve engineering efficiency and productivity
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize engineering initiatives
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve engineering practices
What We Are Looking For
- Proven track record of owning complex technical systems end-to-end while maintaining high reliability and performance standards
- Technical mastery of modern infrastructure and AI integration
- Ability to lead technical design reviews and influence the broader engineering organization's technical direction
- Systematic approach to analysis, breaking down complex productivity blockers into root causes
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
- Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies and containerization
- Familiarity with security and compliance principles
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kubernetes, Istio, and Datadog
- Knowledge of AWS and Terraform
- Familiarity with Claude and Go
- Certification in AI or machine learning
