Job Description

About the Role

The Manager, Engineering, Secure Build role at Docker is a unique opportunity to lead a team of senior engineers in building and operating the infrastructure behind Docker's container builds. As a key member of the Secure Build team, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of the team, partnering with Product to turn strategy into a roadmap, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, secure build infrastructure.

The Secure Build team is responsible for building and operating Docker Build Cloud and Docker's Hub build systems, which run millions of builds a year for hundreds of organizations. The team is also building the next generation of secure, sandboxed CI that isolates each build step and produces hardened images with strong, verifiable provenance.

As the Engineering Manager for this team, you will be working closely with the engineers to set the technical direction, drive growth and innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure build infrastructure. You will also be responsible for partnering with Product to turn strategy into a roadmap and ensuring that the team's process and mechanics are optimized for high performance.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of senior engineers in building and operating the infrastructure behind Docker's container builds
  • Drive the technical direction of the team and partner with Product to turn strategy into a roadmap
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure build infrastructure and own the team's process and mechanics
  • Partner closely with Product to turn strategy into a roadmap the team believes in
  • Stay deep in the technical work, active in design discussions and code review, and hands-on in the code where it makes sense
  • Help shape the technical direction of the team and ensure that the team is delivering high-quality, secure build infrastructure
  • Own the operational reality of production systems and on-call, and be energized rather than thrown by ambiguity
  • Care about growing the engineers around you and shipping something customers actually trust
  • Lead through judgment, unblocking, and direction-setting rather than process for its own sake
  • Ensure that the team is delivering high-quality, secure build infrastructure that meets the needs of Docker's customers
