About the Role

The Manager of Platform Engineering at Natera will be responsible for leading the company's cloud ecosystem, overseeing three critical high-performing workstreams: Cloud Engineering, Orchestration, and Kafka. This role is not just about managing a team; it's about being the Product Manager of Natera's internal developer platform. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to define the roadmap, align stakeholders, and lead their team to execute on a vision that directly impacts the company's ability to innovate at scale.

As a key member of the engineering team, the Manager of Platform Engineering will work closely with the Director of Platform Engineering to ensure the cloud environment supports workloads effortlessly and provides a seamless, self-service experience for internal developers. The role requires a deep understanding of cloud and platform engineering, as well as the ability to treat internal developers as customers, seeking to understand their friction points and delivering solutions that balance speed with enterprise-grade guardrails.

What You Will Do

  • Define the multi-year roadmap for Natera's Cloud, Orchestration, and Kafka ecosystems
  • Align technical debt and prioritize projects accordingly
  • Lead a high-performing team of elite engineers, including Staff-level experts
  • Oversee the cloud engineering, orchestration, and Kafka workstreams
  • Develop and execute a strategy to achieve high internal satisfaction scores
  • Treat the platform as a product, seeking to understand internal developers' friction points and delivering solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to align on vision and roadmap
  • Drive customer success by delivering a seamless, self-service experience for internal developers
  • Ensure the cloud environment supports workloads effortlessly and provides a scalable solution
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's technical debt and prioritize projects accordingly

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in Cloud/Platform/Infrastructure Engineering
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering complex projects
  • Deep understanding of cloud engineering, orchestration, and Kafka
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies and containerization
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to treat internal developers as customers and deliver a seamless experience
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and governance in cloud environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
