Job Description

About the Role

As a Manager of Professional Services Engineers at Gitlab, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers who work directly with customers to deliver installation, migration, training, and advisory services across the full Gitlab platform. This is a people-first role with meaningful technical depth, requiring you to step in hands-on with your team when needed while also building the operating rhythm, team culture, and delivery approach that help the broader practice scale.

In this role, you will partner closely with Technical Architects and Professional Services management to enable consistent delivery across implementation projects, migrations, and statement of work engagements. You will also work closely with cross-functional partners to improve utilization, customer satisfaction, and delivery execution.

The team you will be managing consists of Professional Services Engineers based across Europe, helping them deliver high-quality outcomes in a remote, asynchronous environment. Your first year will be focused on strengthening team capability, improving delivery consistency, and creating the conditions for a high-performing services team across the region.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and manage a team of Professional Services Engineers, supporting their growth, performance, and day-to-day delivery across customer engagements.
  • Develop team members through regular 1:1s, coaching, feedback, and career conversations that help them grow their technical and consulting skills.
  • Own delivery outcomes across your team’s portfolio, including implementations, migrations, advisory services, and statement of work engagements.
  • Monitor project progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize delivery.
  • Collaborate with Technical Architects to ensure technical consistency and quality in delivery.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and other stakeholders to align on customer needs and deliver solutions that meet those needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies, applying this knowledge to continuously improve delivery and outcomes.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in managing or leading teams of engineers or consultants, preferably in a professional services or consulting environment.
  • Strong technical background, with experience in software development, DevSecOps, or a related field.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and version control systems, such as Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for customer meetings or team events.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Gitlab or similar DevSecOps platforms.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with project management tools, such as Asana or Jira.
  • Certification in Agile methodologies or project management.
