About the Role
The Sales Strategy & Planning team at DoorDash plays a critical role in aligning the company's commercial strategies with its go-to-market teams. As a Manager, Sales Strategy & Planning, you will be responsible for designing and operationalizing sales incentive plans that drive business performance, ensure fairness and compliance, and empower the sales organization to reach its full potential. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Legal, Payroll, and GTM leadership, to create programs that are equitable, data-driven, and scalable.The role entails developing and implementing global sales incentive plans, partnering with senior stakeholders to influence executive decisions, and driving alignment for plan changes. You will also lead and mentor a Senior Commission Analyst, helping to build analytical excellence, operational rigor, and a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
What You Will Do
- Own the end-to-end design, implementation, governance, and strategic direction of global sales incentive plans
- Translate business objectives into compensation structures that are strategic, compliant, and operationally sound
- Partner with senior stakeholders, including Finance, RevOps, and GTM leaders, to develop incentive programs that motivate performance, balance cost, and support organizational growth
- Lead and mentor a Senior Commission Analyst, supporting prioritization, professional growth, and excellence in plan administration
- Build, own, and present robust models and scenario analyses to inform strategy and enable confident executive decision-making
- Drive documentation, communications, and change management to ensure plans are implemented accurately and efficiently across markets and increasing headcount
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance the accuracy and scalability of sales comp processes and reporting
- Ensure compliance and audit readiness, partnering with internal teams on audits and control requirements
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the sales organization, including its strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement sales incentive plans that align with business objectives and pay philosophy
What We Are Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in sales strategy, sales operations, finance, or people analytics, ideally with direct experience in sales compensation design or management
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including nested formulas, pivot tables, and modeling
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to distill complex data into clear recommendations and influence senior stakeholders
- Proven people management experience, coaching analysts to deliver accurate, timely work and building scalable processes
- Experience with CRM or sales comp tools, such as Salesforce or Anaplan
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tradeoffs across cost, behavior, and operational complexity
- Understanding of SaaS or recurring revenue models and pay-mix structures
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to build and communicate executive-ready analyses
Nice to Have
- Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
- Knowledge of sales analytics and performance metrics, including quota-setting and attainment
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems
- Certification in sales operations or a related field
