Manager, Solutions Architect - APJ

About the Role

As a key member of the Gitlab team, you will be responsible for managing a team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects, setting clear direction, and enabling high-quality execution across the region. Your technical expertise, combined with your strong judgment and hands-on approach to winning business and scaling teams, will be essential in driving success.

The role is based in a remote environment, allowing you to work flexibly and collaborate with a global team. What You Will Do

• Manage a team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects across South East Asia, Taiwan, South Korea, and India, setting clear direction and enabling high-quality execution across the region.
• Act as a player-coach by partnering directly on strategic opportunities, building executive relationships, and coaching your team through complex sales cycles to help secure the technical win.
• Guide regional strategy for technical evaluations, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements, ensuring customer needs are translated into meaningful technical and business outcomes.
• Partner closely with regional go-to-market counterparts and cross-functional teams, including Sales, Channel, Marketing, Sales Enablement, Product Management, and the global Solutions Architecture team.
• Help shape how Gitlab grows the Solutions Architecture organization across the region by building strong operating rhythms, strengthening executive relationships, and creating the conditions for your team to do their best work.
• Run technical evaluations, executive workshops, demos, and proof-of-concept engagements that help customers map GitLab's DevSecOps platform to their business goals.
• Build regional operating practices that improve team execution, strengthen cross-functional alignment, and scale the impact of Solutions Architects across Asia and India.
• Collaborate with the global Solutions Architecture team to share best practices, develop new strategies, and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Gitlab's DevSecOps platform, as well as the competitive landscape and market trends.

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a strong technical background in software development, DevOps, or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing and leading high-performing teams, with a strong track record of driving success and growth.
• Excellent technical skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand customer needs and develop tailored solutions to meet those needs.
• Experience working in a remote environment, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a distributed team.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to develop and grow the skills of your team members.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, partners, and colleagues.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with Gitlab's DevSecOps platform, or a similar platform.
• Knowledge of Adjust and Excel, or similar tools.
• Experience working in the APJ region, with a strong understanding of the local market and customer needs.
• Fluency in multiple languages, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners across the region.
