Manager, Solutions Architects - Commercial

As a leader in this space, you will be responsible for hiring, coaching, and retaining a high-performing team, setting clear expectations, and being accountable for how your team runs complex technical evaluations, articulates business outcomes, and collaborates with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing.

What You Will Do

• Lead a distributed team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects.
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback, career support, and skills development in both technical and consultative areas.
• Grow and retain a high-performing team by hiring thoughtfully, onboarding effectively, and fostering an inclusive, results-focused culture.
• Guide by example by engaging in key customer opportunities as a Solutions Architect, from discovery through technical validation and successful adoption of the GitLab platform.
• Drive the quality and consistency of technical evaluations, demos, and proofs of concept so that GitLab solutions clearly address customer business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate closely with regional sales managers on territory strategy, account planning, and forecast support to ensure alignment between technical and commercial motions.
• Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to share field insights, influence the roadmap, and improve messaging around GitLab's Enterprise Edition and platform capabilities.
• Own team execution by defining and tracking key performance indicators, and communicate progress, risks, and priorities clearly to your team, peers, and leadership.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience managing a team of Solutions Architects or similar technical roles.
• Strong technical background in software development, preferably with experience in DevSecOps tools and cloud-based technologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven track record of driving business growth through technical leadership and strategic planning.
• Experience working with Agile development methodologies and version control systems.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Experience with GitLab or similar platforms is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI and machine learning technologies.
• Knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL.
• Certification in cloud computing or related fields.
• Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
