About the Role
The Manager, Solutions Architects will lead a distributed team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects serving enterprise customers in the West sales territory. This role entails guiding the team to act as trusted advisors to GitLab prospects and customers, helping them validate GitLab's Enterprise Edition as the right technical and business solution. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the quality and consistency of technical evaluations, demos, and proofs of concept, ensuring that GitLab solutions clearly address customer business and technical requirements.As a leader in the Enterprise team, the Manager, Solutions Architects will collaborate closely with regional sales managers on territory strategy, account planning, and forecast support. This role requires a deep understanding of the sales cycle, the ability to drive complex technical evaluations, and exceptional communication skills. The Manager, Solutions Architects will also partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to share field insights, influence the roadmap, and improve messaging around GitLab's Enterprise Edition and platform capabilities.
The West sales territory is a key region for Gitlab, with a high concentration of enterprise customers. The Manager, Solutions Architects will be responsible for driving growth and adoption of the GitLab platform in this region, working closely with the sales team to identify new opportunities and expand existing relationships.
What You Will Do
- Lead a distributed team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects supporting Enterprise customers in the West territory
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback, career support, and skills development in both technical and consultative areas
- Grow and retain a high-performing team by hiring thoughtfully, onboarding effectively, and fostering an inclusive, results-focused culture
- Guide by example by engaging in key customer opportunities as a Solutions Architect, from discovery through technical validation and successful adoption of the GitLab platform
- Drive the quality and consistency of technical evaluations, demos, and proofs of concept so that GitLab solutions clearly address customer business and technical requirements
- Collaborate closely with regional sales managers on territory strategy, account planning, and forecast support to ensure alignment between technical and commercial motions
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to share field insights, influence the roadmap, and improve messaging around GitLab's Enterprise Edition and platform capabilities
- Own team execution by defining and tracking key performance indicators, and communicate progress, risks, and priorities clearly to your team, peers, and leadership
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in a technical sales or solutions architecture role, preferably in the DevSecOps or cloud-based technologies space
- Proven track record of driving complex technical evaluations and adoption of cloud-based technologies
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
- Experience working with enterprise customers, preferably in the West sales territory
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to coach and mentor a distributed team
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

- Experience working with GitLab or similar DevSecOps platforms
- Certification in cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure
- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Strong understanding of agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
