About the Role

The Marathi Localization/Transcreation Consultant position at Duolingo is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of world-class educational content. What You Will Do

  • Review and provide detailed, constructive feedback on Marathi translations submitted by candidates.
  • Ensure all translations maintain the original context, tone, and intent of the source material.
  • Collaborate with the localization team to develop and implement high-quality linguistic assets.
  • Familiarize yourself with Duolingo's platforms and content to provide informed feedback.
  • Participate in discussions regarding linguistic and cultural nuances to enhance the localization process.
  • Develop and maintain style guides and terminology lists to standardize translations.
  • Test and verify the quality of translations in the product environment.
  • Conduct research to stay updated on cultural, linguistic, and market trends in India.
  • Report any issues or concerns regarding translations or the localization process to the team lead.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in translation, proofreading, or editing, preferably for digital platforms or educational content.
  • Native fluency in Marathi, with excellent writing and communicative skills.
  • Native or near-native fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Experience with game and app localization is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
  • Familiarity with CAT tools and translation management systems is a plus.
  • Availability to dedicate up to 15 hours over a 4-6 week period for this project.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel for data management and analysis.
