About the Role
The Marketing Lead position at Scrivy is a pivotal role that will drive the company's marketing strategy and growth. As the first senior marketing hire, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan that aligns with the company's goals. You will work closely with the founder to sharpen the positioning and messaging of the brand, ensuring that it resonates with the target audience of self-published authors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the self-publishing industry and the ability to leverage this knowledge to drive marketing efforts. Scrivy is a remote-first company, and as such, you will be working with a distributed team. This requires excellent communication and project management skills, as well as the ability to work independently. You will be responsible for setting the channel mix across paid social, search, SEO content, email, and partnerships, and deciding where to allocate the marketing budget. As the Marketing Lead, you will be the owner of the entire marketing function, and your efforts will have a direct impact on the company's growth and success.What You Will Do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives growth and aligns with the company's goals
- Sharpen the positioning and messaging of the brand to resonate with the target audience of self-published authors
- Set the channel mix across paid social, search, SEO content, email, and partnerships
- Decide where to allocate the marketing budget to maximize ROI
- Define and track key marketing metrics, including customer acquisition costs and lifetime value
- Hire, manage, and develop a team of marketing professionals, including content and growth marketers
- Write and edit marketing copy, including landing pages, emails, and positioning documents
- Collaborate with the founder to develop and execute launch plans for new products and features
- Conduct market research to stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitor activity
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders
What We Are Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 2 years of experience leading a marketing function or team
- Experience growing a subscription software product, ideally one sold to prosumers or small businesses
- Strong understanding of the self-publishing industry and the ability to leverage this knowledge to drive marketing efforts
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling marketing copy
- Fluency with funnel data and the ability to pull and analyze metrics to inform marketing decisions
- Experience with marketing automation tools and technologies
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a remote environment and managing a distributed team
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with the creator economy and marketplaces where individuals run small businesses
- Experience with lifecycle and email marketing, including automation and personalization
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience with SEO content creation
- Experience building or repositioning a brand, including developing brand guidelines and messaging frameworks
