Job Description

About the Role

The Master Scheduler role at DEFCON AI is pivotal in establishing and maintaining scheduling discipline across complex software programs. These programs span both commercial Agile development and government/defense contracts, necessitating a deep understanding of industry-standard practices and the ability to adapt to diverse operational goals. The successful candidate will serve as a key development partner and educator, helping teams grasp the intricacies of large program planning, progress measurement, and status communication in ways that align with government customer values.

In this context, the Master Scheduler operates at the program level, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning and cross-functional alignment across engineering and other stakeholders. This is not a project coordinator role but a strategic position that requires the ability to build, maintain, and evolve Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) that accurately reflect program scope, dependencies, vendor integrations, milestones, and contractual deliverables.

The role's significance extends beyond internal operations, as it directly impacts DEFCON AI's ability to deliver resilient optimization solutions to its customers. By aligning outcomes with operational goals and empowering better decision-making, the Master Scheduler plays a critical part in the company's mission to provide insights that make a difference in the face of disruption.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and manage Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for complex software programs, ensuring alignment with program scope, dependencies, and contractual deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain scheduling discipline, providing education and support as needed.
  • Analyze program risks and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies and recommending adjustments to the IMS as necessary.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand program requirements and ensure that the IMS reflects the current program baseline.
  • Develop and maintain program management metrics and reports to support executive-level decision-making.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scheduling efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in program reviews and status meetings, providing scheduling insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and government regulations related to program scheduling.
  • Conduct schedule risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize potential impacts on program timelines.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in program scheduling, preferably in a similar industry (defense, technology, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard scheduling tools and methodologies (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Agile).
  • Experience with Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and the ability to develop and maintain complex schedules.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in educating and supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with government contracting and relevant regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS).
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, business administration, project management).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with artificial intelligence and data analytics, particularly in the context of program optimization.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and waterfall approaches.
  • Certification in program management or a related field (e.g., PMP, PgMP).
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Familiarity with DEFCON AI's specific technologies and platforms.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to innovative solutions.
