About the Role
As a Medical Records Coder at Tenor Health Foundation, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient records. Your primary responsibility will be to review and analyze medical charts, assigning the correct codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments. This position requires a strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding principles. You will work closely with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies or ambiguities in the coding process.The day-to-day tasks will involve reviewing medical charts, determining principal diagnoses, secondary diagnoses, DRG, CPT, and modifier assignments. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. As a remote worker, you will need to be self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

What You Will Do
- Review and analyze medical charts to assign correct codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments
- Determine principal diagnoses, secondary diagnoses, DRG, CPT, and modifier assignments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies or ambiguities in the coding process
- Develop and implement coding protocols to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy and efficiency
- Stay current with industry developments, updates, and revisions to coding systems
- Provide education and training to healthcare staff on coding principles and guidelines
- Perform data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Develop and maintain reports to track coding productivity and accuracy
What We Are Looking For
- CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA certification
- Previous experience in medical records coding, preferably in a remote setting
- Strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, and coding principles
- Proficiency in ICD-9, CPT4, APC, and modifier coding systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Previous computer experience, preferably with electronic health records systems
