About the Role

The Medical Virtual Assistant role at WRS Health is a remote position that entails providing administrative and front-desk support to medical practices. As a key point of contact for patients and healthcare providers, you will manage inbound and outbound patient calls, schedule appointments, and verify insurance coverage. Your expertise in Excel and EMR systems will be crucial in maintaining accurate patient records and supporting day-to-day practice operations.

What You Will Do

  • Manage inbound and outbound patient calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments as needed
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage details
  • Process and follow up on prior authorization requests with insurance carriers
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient information within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Assist with patient collections, including discussing balances and processing payments when applicable
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide timely support regarding appointments, billing, and general practice information
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other healthcare privacy regulations
  • Document patient interactions and update records accurately and promptly
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and practice staff to ensure seamless patient care and workflow

What We Are Looking For

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Previous experience in a healthcare, medical office, customer service, call center, or virtual assistant role
  • Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems is an advantage
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and prior authorization processes
  • Strong verbal and written English and Spanish communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and patient interaction skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and web-based applications
