About the Role
As a Member Benefits Specialist at Gusto, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that small businesses and their employees receive the health insurance coverage they need. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing the intake, submission, and confirmation of group health insurance selections, as well as acting as a liaison between Gusto's customers and health insurance carriers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Licensed Benefits Advisors and Benefits Care, to deliver benefits in full and on time.The Member Fulfillment team at Gusto is responsible for shepherding employer and employee benefits across the finish line, ensuring that every detail is accurate and complete. As a Member Benefits Specialist, you will be an integral part of this team, using your expertise to identify and mitigate errors, and leveraging AI tools to enhance your work.

What You Will Do
- Manage the intake, submission, and confirmation of group health insurance selections for both employees and employers
- Act as a liaison between Gusto's customers and health insurance carriers, ensuring that all carrier documentation is accurate and complete
- Review customer data against carrier eligibility standards to proactively mitigate errors and ensure high-quality plan adherence
- Partner with teams across the organization to deliver benefits in full and on time, year-round
- Resolve follow-up requests from carriers, resolving information gaps or plan changes with urgency
- Identify and escalate opportunities for workflow enhancements, using your expertise to increase team efficiency and accuracy
- Provide clear, professional guidance on healthcare enrollment to customers and internal partners via written and verbal channels
- Use Salesforce and other internal systems to manage customer data and track benefits enrollment
- Collaborate with the Member Fulfillment team to achieve team goals and objectives
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration, health insurance, or a related field
- Proficiency in Salesforce and Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
- Strong understanding of health insurance principles and practices, including eligibility and compliance
- Experience working with AI tools and technology to enhance work processes
