Member of Technical Staff, MLE [Singapore]

About the Role

The role involves working closely with customers to understand their domains, designing custom LLM solutions, and delivering production-ready models that drive high-value results. You will also contribute to the development of Cohere's foundation models, leveraging the company's full stack, including CPT, post-training, retrieval, and agent integrations.

As a technical leader, you will be responsible for setting a high technical bar, defining the direction of Applied ML at Cohere, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation.

What You Will Do

• Contribute to the design and delivery of custom LLM solutions for enterprise customers
• Translate ambiguous business problems into well-framed ML problems with clear success criteria and evaluation methodologies
• Build custom models using Cohere's foundation model stack, CPT recipes, post-training pipelines, and data assets
• Develop state-of-the-art modeling techniques that enhance model performance for customer use-cases
• Contribute improvements back to the foundation-model stack, including new capabilities, tuning strategies, and evaluation frameworks
• Work with customers to identify high-value opportunities where LLMs can unlock transformative impact
• Collaborate with the customer-facing MLE team to drive technical impact and customer success
• Participate in the development of Cohere's technical roadmap and strategy
• Mentor and guide junior team members to ensure knowledge sharing and skill development

What We Are Looking For

• Strong ML fundamentals and the ability to frame complex problems as ML solutions
• Fluency with Python and core ML/LLM frameworks
• Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed training or inference pipelines
• Understanding of LLM architectures, tuning techniques, and evaluation methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to shape LLM performance and drive technical impact
• Broad view of the ML research landscape and a desire to push the state of the art
