About the Role
Cohere is at the forefront of AI research, scaling intelligence to serve humanity through the development of frontier models for developers and enterprises. As a Member of the Technical Staff for Next Generation Agents, you will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of what is possible with AI. Your role will involve designing and developing novel agentic solutions, improving upon state-of-the-art techniques, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive the performance of agentic systems. The Next Generation Agents team operates primarily between ET to CET time zones, fostering a culture of remote collaboration and innovation.The team's mission is to explore the horizon of modeling techniques, focusing on areas such as deep research, learning from experience, continual learning, and memory. By joining this team, you will contribute to the development of production solutions that drive value for Cohere's customers. With offices in London, Paris, Toronto, San Francisco, and New York, but also embracing remote work, this role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, provided you can collaborate effectively within the team's time zone.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop novel agentic solutions that push the boundaries of current AI capabilities
- Improve upon state-of-the-art techniques in agentic tasks, focusing on deep research and learning from experience
- Research the next generation of online learning-from-experience self-improvement techniques
- Collaborate with partner teams, such as Reasoning, Post-training, and Pre-training, to enhance the performance of agentic systems
- Develop data-generation techniques for post-training models, including SFT and RL
- Work closely with a team of researchers and engineers who are passionate about their craft and committed to innovation
- Participate in the development of synthetic data generation pipelines to support model training
- Contribute to the improvement of Cohere's models and their applications in real-world scenarios
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI research and apply this knowledge to improve Cohere's technologies
- Engage in empirical research-driven development to create production-ready solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement and implement changes
What We Are Looking For
- Strong software engineering skills, with the ability to design, develop, and test software applications
- Proficiency in Python, with experience in ML-related code such as PyTorch or NumPy
- Experience with LLMs and agentic frameworks, including the development and deployment of these models
- Knowledge of post-training LLMs, including SFT, PEFT, or RL
- Experience with building synthetic data generation pipelines for model training
- Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in real-world scenarios
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment and contribute to a team's objectives
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques to communicate insights effectively
- Participation in open-source projects or personal projects that demonstrate your passion for AI and machine learning
