Job Description

About the Role

The MEP Estimator will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase of projects, developing and maintaining accurate cost estimates. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction principles and be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders.

The estimator will be responsible for reviewing plans and drawings, preparing quantity take-offs, and identifying potential omissions. They will also be expected to develop and maintain effective working relationships with subcontractors, soliciting bids and negotiating prices.

The role will require strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. The estimator will be part of a dynamic team and will be expected to contribute to the company's mission of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.

What You Will Do

  • Review plans and drawings to identify potential omissions and discrepancies
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates for assigned projects
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Solicit bids and negotiate prices with subcontractors
  • Analyze and compare bids to determine the best value for the project
  • Prepare and deliver estimate reports to project managers and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely estimates
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, including changes to construction codes and regulations
  • Utilize Excel and other estimation software to calculate, record, and track estimates
  • Attend client meetings and answer questions regarding pricing and estimates
  • Perform change order pricing, site visits, and bid delivery

What We Are Looking For

  • BS or BA in construction, management, engineering, or architecture
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, construction engineering, or project engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Excel and other estimation software
  • Experience with Data Center, Mission Critical, or Corporate Interiors projects (preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Destini Estimator software, Blue Beam, Assemble, or On Screen Takeoff
  • Certification in construction estimating or a related field
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies
