Job Description

About the Role

As a Multi Utility Locator at Ledcor, you will play a critical role in identifying underground facilities, ensuring the safety and efficiency of construction projects. Your expertise will be utilized to interpret job order tickets, read blueprints, and operate testing and locating equipment. You will work independently, managing your workload and meeting project timelines in a fast-paced, field-based environment.

The role requires a strong background in telecommunications and utility locating, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will be responsible for creating drawings using Visio and monitoring equipment to prevent damage to underground facilities. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will be essential in this position.

What You Will Do

  • Interpret job order tickets and locate underground utilities accurately
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and construction drawings
  • Plan travel routes between urban and rural areas
  • Operate testing and locating equipment to pinpoint underground utilities
  • Monitor equipment to ensure facilities are not damaged
  • Create drawings using Visio
  • Work independently while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and safety standards
  • Meet project timelines in a fast-paced, field-based environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of experience locating underground utilities across multiple utility types
  • Experience working with telecommunications, hydro, gas, water, and other utility infrastructure
  • Completion of the ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) certification
  • Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize workload effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety
  • Team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer-savvy, with experience using multiple applications and digital tools
  • Valid Full G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Visio or similar software
  • Knowledge of construction practices and protocols
  • Familiarity with company vehicles and equipment
