About the Role

As a Network Engineer at Dropbox, you will play a critical role in designing, deploying, and operating the company's large-scale networking systems. What You Will Do

  • Design, deploy, and operate Dropbox's global production network across datacenter, backbone, edge, and cloud networking.
  • Support operations and on-call coverage for the production network to ensure high reliability and availability.
  • Drive automation initiatives for network configuration, monitoring, and change management.
  • Develop and improve network telemetry and observability systems to enhance visibility and reliability.
  • Partner with global subject matter experts, software engineers, and operations teams to deliver scalable and secure infrastructure solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including traffic, physical infrastructure, and security teams, to support end-to-end network initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of best practices and standards for network engineering.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of network architecture to meet the needs of a rapidly growing user base.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for network security and reliability.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, deploying, and operating large-scale production networks.
  • Hands-on experience with datacenter, backbone, and edge networking at scale.
  • Proficiency in core networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF/ISIS, MPLS, and IPv4/IPv6.
  • Strong background working with major networking vendors (e.g., Juniper, Cisco, Arista).
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a cloud-based environment (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud networking and migration of network services to the cloud.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as SDN and NFV.
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
