As a Neuro Coding Associate III at R1 RCM, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate reimbursement for complex neurosurgical and Neuro IR procedures. You will work closely with providers and revenue cycle teams to apply your deep expertise to high-value cases, directly impacting hospital financial performance and patient care outcomes. What You Will Do

  • Code complex neurosurgical and Neuro IR cases daily, including spine surgeries, brain tumor resections, and endovascular clot retrievals
  • Manage a high-volume workflow with an expectation of approximately sixty cases per day, balancing speed with precision in a metric-driven environment
  • Accurately code high-value cases, ensuring compliance with coding standards and maximizing appropriate reimbursement
  • Interpret complex clinical documentation across neurosurgery and critical care, applying advanced coding knowledge with minimal ramp-up
  • Collaborate with providers through queries, maintaining professionalism and clarity while resolving documentation gaps
  • Support additional coding workstreams when needed, while maintaining primary focus on neurosurgery and Neuro IR assignments
  • Apply deep expertise to complex cases, directly impacting hospital financial performance and patient care outcomes
  • Work closely with providers and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate reimbursement and exceptional patient care
  • Utilize advanced technology and coding systems to streamline workflow and improve productivity

What We Are Looking For

  • 4+ years of coding experience in a Neuro coding environment
  • Required certification: CCS, COC, RHIA, RHIT, or CPC
  • Experience working in production-based coding environments with defined productivity targets
  • Deep, specialized knowledge of neurosurgical procedures and documentation
  • Ability to work independently in complex cases and manage a high-volume workflow
  • Strong critical thinking and time management skills
  • Meticulous, resilient, and adaptable, with a calm and professional presence
  • Ability to collaborate with providers and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate reimbursement and exceptional patient care
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in coding systems and software
