About the Role

As an On-Call Roving Producer & Writer at City Cast, you will be responsible for providing podcast production and newsletter writing support to the daily podcast teams on an as-needed basis. This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about creating high-quality, engaging content. The City Cast team is committed to producing smart and compelling editorial content for their podcast, newsletter, and social media accounts. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for finding compelling and timely pitches for the daily podcast, social, and newsletter content. You will also be required to write the daily newsletter on assigned days, using your voice, humor, clarity, and relevance to engage the audience.

The role will involve working closely with the city teams, the Director of Production, and the Senior Roving Producers to ensure that all content meets the high standards of City Cast. You will be required to work on a variety of tasks, including prep for podcast conversations, editing episodes using Descript, and producing ads to be included in podcast episodes.

What You Will Do

  • Help city teams produce smart and compelling editorial content for their podcast, newsletter, and social media accounts
  • Find compelling and timely pitches for the daily podcast, social, and newsletter content
  • Write the daily newsletter on assigned days with voice, humor, clarity, and relevance
  • Prep for podcast conversations with the host and Executive Producer
  • Edit episodes using Descript
  • Produce ads to be included in podcast episodes
  • Work closely with the city teams, the Director of Production, and the Senior Roving Producers
  • Ensure that all content meets the high standards of City Cast
  • Provide support to the daily podcast teams on an as-needed basis
  • Work on a variety of tasks, including research, writing, and editing

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience creating and/or editing editorial content
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven editorial environment
  • Excellent writing skills with a clear, engaging voice
  • Experience with Descript or the willingness to learn
  • Highly organized, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience making and editing videos for social is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks, including research, writing, and editing

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a remote environment
