About the Role

As an Online Adjunct Professor in Medical Coding and Billing at Bryant & Stratton College, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of healthcare professionals. This role involves teaching online courses as part of the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (PMCC) and Certified Professional Biller (CPB) programs. Your expertise and experience in medical coding and billing will be invaluable in guiding students through these AAPC-approved courses, preparing them for the Certified Professional Coder and Certified Professional Biller exams.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this position include facilitating active virtual learning classrooms, utilizing alternative delivery methodologies to engage students, and maintaining contemporary knowledge and skills in medical coding and billing. You will be part of a team dedicated to supporting the college's mission and vision, participating in departmental, campus-wide, and college-wide activities to meet the needs of the student population and the Online Education team.

What You Will Do

  • Teach online classes for the PMCC and CPB programs
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments
  • Utilize technology effectively to facilitate online learning
  • Provide support and feedback to students to ensure their success
  • Participate in regular meetings with the program manager and faculty administrator
  • Stay updated on industry developments and incorporate these into your teaching
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum and educational materials
  • Evaluate student performance and progress
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress
  • Collaborate with other instructors to share best practices and improve the online learning experience

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Medical Billing/Coding, or Health Information Technology
  • Credentials from the AAPC for CPC and/or CPB
  • Current AAPC-Approved Instructor for the CPC and/or CPB
  • 1-2 years of experience in the medical coding and billing industry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and Internet applications
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to self-assess, take feedback, and incorporate results into practice
  • Ability to function within established college, state, federal, and accrediting/approval agency regulations, policies, and procedures

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Management, Medical Billing/Coding, or Health Information Technology
  • 3-5 years of experience in the medical coding and billing industry
  • Experience with online learning platforms and educational software
  • Certification in instructional design or online teaching
