## About the Role Constructive is a social impact strategy and design firm that partners with ambitious organizations to make the world a more fair, equitable, and sustainable place. As a freelance WordPress/Drupal developer, you will play a critical role in helping Constructive advance its mission by working on a variety of projects that require strong technical skills and attention to detail. You will be part of a close-knit team of experts and advocates who value integrity, empathy, accountability, trust, teamwork, and respect.
The role entails working on project-based engagements, typically 10-30 hours per week, with a preference for EST overlap. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining large-scale WordPress and Drupal platforms, including custom post types, REST API, and Gutenberg block registration. You will also be required to have experience with PHP, JavaScript, and Salesforce integration.

## What You Will Do - Develop and maintain large-scale WordPress and Drupal platforms - Create custom post types, REST API, and Gutenberg block registration - Work with PHP, JavaScript, and Salesforce integration - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements - Write clean, maintainable code and ensure high-quality deliverables - Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase - Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues - Communicate clearly about risks and tradeoffs to stakeholders - Estimate and track project timelines and deliverables - Work closely with the design team to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end components - Participate in Agile development methodologies and iterate on feedback
## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in WordPress and/or Drupal development - Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS - Experience with Salesforce integration and API development - Familiarity with modern JavaScript build tooling (Vite, Bud.js, or Webpack) - Knowledge of Git workflow and CI/CD awareness - Experience with Composer for PHP dependency management and npm/yarn for JS dependencies - Strong understanding of WordPress internals (hooks/filters, custom post types, REST API) - Familiarity with Drupal module development and large configuration-driven codebases - Strong communication and project management skills - Ability to work independently as part of a remote team
## Nice to Have - Experience with Pantheon multidev environments - Gravity Forms customization (hooks, custom validation, add-on integration) - Alpine.js for lightweight DOM interactivity alongside heavier React components - Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) - Data visualization libraries (D3, Highcharts) for interactive tool projects - Search integration (Algolia) or other search providers
