Job Description

About the Role

As an Open Source Program Developer at Datadog, you will be at the forefront of the company's open source initiatives. Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining tools that enhance the interaction between Datadog's engineers and open source projects. This includes developing tools for easing the building and releasing of open source software, as well as creating platforms for ingesting open source software. You will be part of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO), a team dedicated to fostering open source collaboration and community engagement.

The role is based in Portugal, offering a unique opportunity to work with a global team while being part of a vibrant local community. What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain tools that ease building and releasing Open Source software at Datadog
  • Develop tools that facilitate the ingestion of Open Source software at Datadog
  • Create developer-facing documentation and training materials around contributing to open source and maintaining open source projects
  • Interface with open source communities to understand problems and trends in the market
  • Design tools to automatically analyze and report on Open Source repositories trends and statistics
  • Collaborate with Datadog Open Source Partners candidates and recipients to select new projects for the program and ensure the program's usefulness
  • Research and write content for the Datadog Open Source Hub
  • Contribute to the product through feedback, documentation, or code

What We Are Looking For

  • Approximately 3+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or other practitioner
  • Fluency in reading and writing one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#, Rust)
  • Experience with open source projects and communities
  • Empathy, collaboration, and communication skills to cultivate strong relationships across various teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience with different Open Source licenses and Contributor License Agreements
  • Strong understanding of open source ecosystems and trends
