As a key member of the Canada team, you will report to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for overseeing daily operations, implementing operational policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in driving country-level growth initiatives that align with both the Canadian market priorities and Coinbase's global strategy.

The role is based in Canada and offers the opportunity to work remotely, with occasional in-person participation required throughout the year. As a remote-first company, Coinbase values flexibility and autonomy, but also recognizes the importance of face-to-face interactions to foster collaboration and alignment.

In this role, you will be working closely with cross-functional teams, including product, regulatory, service delivery, technology, and outsourcing oversight. Your ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including banks and regulators, will be essential in communicating operational and risk strategies effectively.

What You Will Do

  • Support the COO in the effective oversight and management of operational functions within Coinbase Canada and outsourced to intragroup or third-party entities.
  • Implement operational policies and procedures, overseeing risk management processes, and ensuring delivery in line with local regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Establish, maintain, and own key supervision activities across critical business areas of Coinbase Canada, including trading, staking, and custody operations.
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of robust operational resilience frameworks within Coinbase Canada, ensuring that critical business functions can continue in the face of disruptions.
  • Identify and assess potential risks, develop contingency plans, and implement measures to mitigate operational vulnerabilities.
  • Coordinate responses to operational incidents and facilitate communication with relevant stakeholders, regulators, and third-party service providers to uphold operational continuity.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including banks and regulators, to effectively communicate operational and risk strategies.
  • Project manage critical operations and risk-related projects with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, security, finance, product, customer service, and more.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the financial or technology sector.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk management and compliance requirements.
  • Excellence in stakeholder relations, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Excel and other operational management tools.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the cryptocurrency or blockchain space.
  • Knowledge of Canadian regulatory requirements and financial laws.
  • Certification in operational risk management or a related field.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with a pioneering company in the cryptocurrency space.
  • Remote work options with occasional in-person participation.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training and conference attendance.
  • Access to a global network of professionals in the digital marketing, paid media, and tech industries.
  • Health and wellness benefits, including mental health support.
  • Generous PTO policy and paid holidays.
  • Flexible working hours and autonomy to manage your workload.
  • Company-sponsored social events and team-building activities.

How to Stand Out

  • Be prepared to showcase your experience in operational risk management and compliance requirements, and explain how you've applied these skills in previous roles.
