Job Description
About the Role
As a Paramedic at Royal Caribbean International, you will be responsible for providing medical care to guests, team members, contractors, vendors, and visitors on the destination. You will work closely with the Chief Nurse and Doctor to ensure the highest level of medical care is provided. The role requires you to be adaptable, think critically, and make sound judgments in emergency situations. The Paramedic role is a vital part of the Medical Team, and you will be expected to lead by example, demonstrating exceptional organization, attention to detail, and self-management skills. You will also be responsible for promoting the confidentiality of all clinical and medical information. The Medical Team operates in a fast-paced environment, and you will need to be able to work effectively in a team, communicate clearly, and provide excellent customer service to guests and team members.What You Will Do
- Provide medical care for minor and major emergencies, including assessing patient conditions, performing preliminary diagnoses, and providing life support
- Lead and coordinate the team responding to emergencies, transferring leadership duties when necessary
- Evaluate patient conditions, perform triage, and provide appropriate treatment and documentation
- Transfer patients from the emergency area to the nearest Medical Center or onboard the Ship
- Provide administrative assistance to the Chief Nurse and Doctor, including completing medical forms and reports
- Maintain current medical records for all team members and guests
- Participate in team member education, training programs, and wellness programs
- Sterilize surgical instruments and dispose of hazardous waste properly
- Perform laboratory tests, venipuncture, X-ray, and IV cannulation
- Oversee and maintain the cleanliness of the Medical Center
What We Are Looking For
- Current paramedic certification or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a remote or island setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and lead by example
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to adjust to new software and systems
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a hospitality or cruise industry
- Knowledge of Sea Care or similar medical software
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, or other relevant medical training
- Experience with medical evacuation procedures
